THE MESOTHELIOMA SCHOLARSHIP – Everything you Need to Know

Each semester, the Mesothelioma Scholarship awards $4,000 to a student whose life has been touched by cancer as part of scholarship program.

The goal of this award is to support college students in their pursuit of a degree or certificate through financial aid. We want to hear from you if you’ve battled cancer or observed a loved one’s treatment.

THE MESOTHELIOMA SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

Applicants should:

At some point in their lives, they’ve had to deal with cancer (not limited to mesothelioma)

Someone in your immediate family or close friends has or is undergoing treatment for cancer.

A graduate degree program or a two- or four-year institution or community college that has been recognized by the Council on Graduate School Admissions
Become a citizen of the United States of America.

Be in “Good Standing” academically and have a GPA of at least 3.0 to be eligible

THE MESOTHELIOMA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DETAILS

The following questions must be answered in a 500–1,500 word essay or a five-minute video submission:

What impact has cancer had on your daily life?

When faced with such difficulty, how did you persevere?

Has cancer altered your outlook on life and the goals you’ve set for yourself or your career?

Why are you the person you are today?

What are your hopes and expectations for this scholarship? What’s the big deal?

Please complete the online application form with your full name, home address, email address, and phone number, as well as the university you currently attend or plan to attend and your intended major. In addition, please send in the following:

Transcript of an unofficial academic record.

Verification of enrollment in an accredited two-, four-, or graduate degree program at a university, community college, or junior college.
Scholarship applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation stating why they should be awarded the award.

Any awards or volunteer work you’ve done in the past that you’d like to share. Provide a one- to the two-sentence summary for each item.
