Every year, Rotary chooses up to 90 peace and development leaders from around the world to
obtain fully financed educational fellowships to seek a Professional Development Certificate
Program or Master’s Degree Program connected to peace and conflict resolution and prevention
at one of the participating peace centers around the world (United States of America, Japan,
United Kingdom, Australia, Sweden, Uganda)

  •  Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, United State of America:
    Master of International Development Policy Program (MIDP) or different degrees provided by
    the University of North Carolina
  •  International Christian University, Japan: Master’s Degree in Peace Studies
  •  University of Bradford, England: Advanced Practice in Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution MA
  • The University of Queensland, Australia: Master of Peace and Conflict Studies (MPACS)
  •  Uppsala University, Sweden: Peace and Conflict Studies (MS.Sc.)
  •  Makerere University, Uganda (certificate program): Post-Graduate Diploma in Peace and
    Development Studies

Crucial Note: Fellowship candidates may not study at a Rotary Peace Center in their residence
country, except recipients from Uganda, who may attend the center at Makerere University.

Level/Field of study:

Professional Development Certificate Program or Master’s Degree Program in areas connected
to peace and conflict resolution and prevention.

Target group:

Global peace and development leaders with an undergraduate degree who satisfy the eligibility
middle.

Number of Scholarships:

Up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 40 for certificate studies are granted every year.

The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all
internship and field-study expenditures.

  • The Rotary Peace Fellowship is scheduled for professionals with work experience in

  •  Have three years of connected work experience in the master’s program
  •  Have five years of connected work experience for the certificate program and be able to
    elucidate how their schedule to facilitate peace aligns with Rotary’s mission (Applicants for
    Makerere University must either be from Africa, have worked in Africa, or work with African
    communities or initiatives outside the continent.)
  • Be proficient in English (Master’s recipients whose first language is not English must offer
    English language standardized test scores.)
  •  Hold a bachelor’s degree (Master’s recipients must offer a copy of their transcripts.)
  •  Demonstrate leadership aptitudes
  •  Have a powerful responsibility for cross-cultural understanding and peace work in Africa, or
    work with African communities or initiatives outside the mainland.
