Loran Scholarships in Canada is known as the Loran Scholars Foundation. For four years, the Loran Scholars Foundation, in collaboration with universities, donors, and volunteers around the country.

They will award a four-year undergraduate scholarship (worth $100,000) to deserving Canadian students who demonstrate a commitment to character, service, and leadership potential.

Founded in Toronto in 1988, the Loran Scholars Foundation is a national charitable organization awarding scholarships for students entering university in Canada.

Loran Scholars receive the country’s largest undergraduate merit award based on character, commitment to service, and leadership potential.

The deadline for this scholarship program is October every year. Loran Scholars Foundation identifies and supports young people who have the integrity and courage to make difficult decisions, and the perseverance to work towards long-term goals.

The curiosity to better understand the world around them and the drive to make positive change in their communities.

Scholarship Awards value

Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of $100,000, each Loran Award includes:

1. An annual stipend of $10,000

2. A matching tuition waiver from one of 25 partner universities

3. Personal mentorship from a Canadian leader.

4. Access to their network and up to $10,000 in funding for summer internships in three different sectors

5. An orientation expedition through Algonquin Park

6. Annual retreats and scholar gatherings

They also grant approximately 104 finalist and provincial awards to promising candidates who are not selected as Loran Scholars.

Eligibility Criteria for the Loran Scholarships

Eligibility Criteria for High School Students

Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.

Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.

Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.

Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.

Eligibility Criteria for CEGEP Students

Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in CEGEP. If you are planning to attend university outside of Québec after only one year of CEGEP, you can apply in your first year of CEGEP.

Present an R score equal to or higher than 29.

Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.

Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.

Applications are now open and available online at https://apply.loranscholar.ca/.

Shortlisted sponsored candidates will be notified 2-3 weeks before their regional interview date. Shortlisted direct pool candidates will be notified in December.

The application process takes place annually in September/October. There are two ways to apply for the Loran Award, with different deadlines.
