Cancer patients live with severe pains and are sometimes faced with financial burdens. with Grants for cancer patients, many cancer patients have been relieved financially.
It’s not all cancer patients can afford the money hospitals charge for their treatment. For this, both the cancer patients and their families dig different financial sources to seek funds to pay the bills.
According to Duke Cancer Institute in 2007, cancer patients are spending on average 11% of a household’s income on the cost of treatment of cancer. Also, AARP claimed that the average cost of its treatment is $150,000. This is to back the fact that the cost of treating cancer illness is huge.
However, cancer has taken millions of lives and hasn’t stopped. And this is because some of its victims are unable to pay their medical bills. Nevertheless, this author has taken his time to search for organizations that render financial aid to cancer patients.
FOUNDATIONS THAT GRANT CANCER PATIENTS FINANCIAL AID
1. CANCERCARE
It’s a non-profit organization that offers financial assistance to people who are living with cancer. It provides services through Oncology social workers via telephone or in-person and through the organization’s website.
2. AVONCARES ASSISTANCE FOR WOMEN FACING CANCER
It’s managed by Cancer care and it offers financial assistance to low-income earners who are undergoing cancer treatment for Breast cancer or Cervical cancer and are unable to pay all the bills.
3. THE ASSISTANCE FUND
It’s a non-profit and independent Foundation that offers financial assistance to cancer patients with deductibles, coinsurance, etc. It’s more than 70 programs and it’s helped 125,000 in security the treatment they needed in 2009. Among the programs are Bladder Cancer, Breast Cancer, Gastric Cancer Copay Assistance Program, etc.
4. GOOD DAYS
It’s a nonprofit Foundation that offers cancer patients financial aid. The programs run by the Foundation are diagnostic testing assistance, copay, travel, and premium.
5. PATIENTS ADVOCATE FOUNDATION
It gives small grants to cancer patients who have met some diagnoses and financial criteria that the Foundation has designed.
